Glass-only replacement, explained plainly

A dual-pane window is really two parts: the frame, and a sealed insulated glass unit sitting inside it. In the Las Vegas Valley, the glass unit is almost always what fails first — relentless UV and 115° summers break down the perimeter seal, the argon escapes, humid air moves in, and the window fogs.

If your frame is still square and operating, that failed unit can be swapped out on its own. Most national window companies won't quote it, because there's no five-figure sale in it. We do, because telling you the truth about a $300 fix is how we earn the $9,000 job later.

Signs your glass — not your window — is the problem

If you're seeing these, glass-only replacement is very likely on the table:

  • A white haze or cloudy film between the panes that won't wipe off
  • Visible condensation or water droplets sealed inside the glass
  • A chalky mineral streak where the argon has leaked out
  • One room that runs hot every afternoon while the rest of the house is fine
  • A crack that has spread since you first noticed it
  • Glass that feels hot to the touch on a July afternoon

Glass repair vs. full window replacement

Replace the glass when…

The frame is square, locks and slides correctly, isn't leaking air at the perimeter, and is vinyl or fiberglass. You get clear glass back and keep your money.

Replace the window when…

The frame is aluminum, warped, single-pane, or leaking air. Aluminum conducts desert heat straight through — new glass in a bad frame won't move your power bill.

Upgrade the glass while you're at it

We're fabricating a new unit regardless, so a desert-spec Low-E coating and argon fill costs little extra and materially improves afternoon comfort.

Sliding door panels count too

A fogged or cracked patio door panel is usually replaceable on its own, as long as the track and frame are still true.

The same crew, on a small job

We don't hand small glass jobs to a subcontractor. The same W-2, veteran-led Beyond Energy crew that installs whole-home window packages measures, fabricates, and sets your glass — with the same installation standard and the same cleanup.

That's the entire reason to call a local company instead of a national brand's call center for a $300 repair.

  • Laser-measured openings, custom-built to the quarter inch
  • Full frame inspection with stucco and framing repair if needed
  • Perimeter foam insulation and code-compliant flashing
  • Interior and exterior trim finished the same day
  • Post-install operation, lock, and air-seal verification
  • Complete cleanup and old-unit haul-away included

Answers

Frequently asked questions

Can you replace just the glass instead of the whole window?+

Yes. If the frame is square, sound, and operating properly, we replace only the insulated glass unit. That's usually a few hundred dollars instead of a few thousand, and it's the honest answer for a lot of Las Vegas homes with failed dual-pane seals.

How much does window glass replacement cost in Las Vegas?+

Most residential insulated glass units run $180 to $480 installed depending on size, with large picture windows landing between $650 and $1,100. Sliding glass door panels typically run $450 to $900. Every price is written before work starts.

Why is my window foggy between the panes?+

The seal around the insulated glass unit has failed, the argon gas has escaped, and humid air has taken its place. The fog is condensation trapped inside the sealed unit. It can't be cleaned — the glass unit has to be replaced, and the insulating value is already gone.

When is glass replacement the wrong choice?+

When the frame is the problem. Warped aluminum frames conduct heat straight into the room, and single-pane frames can't accept an insulated unit at all. In those cases glass-only work is money spent that won't lower your power bill — we'll tell you that at the assessment instead of selling you the cheaper job twice.

How fast can you replace broken glass?+

We board up or secure a broken opening the same day where needed, then install the custom-cut unit once it's fabricated — typically a few business days for standard sizes. Emergency situations get priority scheduling.

Is the new glass better than what was there?+

It can be. Since we're fabricating a new unit anyway, most homeowners upgrade to a desert-appropriate Low-E coating and argon fill for a small amount more. Same frame, materially better summer performance.

Send us a photo of the fog. We'll tell you if it's a glass job.

One visit, one written price, and an honest answer about whether you need glass or a whole window.
